LCC is dedicated to supporting patients through every step of their cancer journey. Thanks to a generous donor, The Next Step, in Los Gatos, CA., we have provided over 300 bras, 80 wigs and 170 prostheses for breast cancer patients, and donated similar supplies to five agencies providing services in Northern California as well as one agency in Mexico City.
In addition to the support group and patient navigation, LCC provides one on one patient counseling.
Childhood Cancer
Latinas Contra Cancer also provides space for a Spanish language Parent’s Support Group with children with cancer, partially supported by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The incubation of the parent group led to a partnership with artist, illustrator and author, Alan Quinonez, whose BenitoBooks.com company produced the first in a planned series of children’s books, Benito You Can Do It.
The Benito You Can Do It books were donated to children’s cancer centers across the country, including Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital, the Benioff Children’s Hospital of Oakland, the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, the City of Hope, St. Jude and the National Children’s Hospital of Washington, D.C.
