Volunteer

lcc-volunteer-bannerVolunteers are critical to Latina Contra Cancer’s day-to-day work. From helping to implement events to managing the library of resources for cancer patients – volunteers are important to LCC’s work.

We are grateful for the incredible support that our volunteers provide. Please let us know if you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities by filling out our volunteer survey.

Events

Volunteers help plan and execute LCC events including the National Latino Cancer Summit and other fundraisers. These events are important because it helps LCC grow our community presence and engage with more individuals. By volunteering for these events you’re enabling LCC to educate, navigate, and support our underserved population.

Office Support

The LCC office is located in downtown San Jose. Volunteers are needed on a daily basis to help with speaking with patients over the phone (being bilingual helps), organizing our resources and library, and managing data projects.

I have continued to volunteer at Latinas Contra Cancer (LCC) for three years because I am passionate about serving the Latino community and wholeheartedly believe in the services and work LCC provides to families in the Bay Area. At LCC I enjoy working with the amazing staff to help make someone’s day just a little bit better. I enjoy representing LCC at health fairs and events in the Bay Area and the satisfaction of providing health education to the broader community. I am honored to be a part of the progress at LCC. – Crystal Perez, LCC Volunteer

Internships

LCC is proud to have a partnership with San Jose State University (SJSU). LCC offers an internship program for SJSU students. We have also provided internships for University of Santa Clara and Stanford students.

“LCC gave me the opportunity to explore the non-profit world and see first hand how they connect the community with life saving resources and support. This organization is truly an asset to the communities they serve. As an SJSU Health Science major, and a senior student intern, which was made possible by Health Career Connections, I learned valuable skills through my experience and mentorship that have strengthened my passion for public health and working with underserved populations.” – Jessica Ponce, BS, Public Health Associate at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
